High school roundup: Special teams propel Hightower into area round
Special teams may be the key to Hightower making a second straight run to the Class 5A, Division I state championship game. The Hurricanes came up with two special teams scores last week in a 48-21 win over Ball in the Region III bi-district playoffs. Kevon Madison returned a blocked punt for a score and Bralon Addison took a punt back 58 yards for a touchdown.






Boys basketball: Bush to employ up-tempo offense
Without any true big men, Bush coach Ronnie Courtney changed his offense to a fast-breaking, guard-oriented attack, and turned the keys to the team over to standout point guard Denzel Cosper. The results were record-breaking. The Broncos won a school-record 30 games and spent much of last season as a surprise top 20 Class 5A team in Texas.
